About this board game

Codenames: The Simpsons is a 15-minute social word game for 2–8 players, featuring characters and locations from thirty years of The Simpsons.

Two teams—Team Homer and Team Bart—compete to identify all of their hidden field agents first. The agents are represented by words or pictures and are concealed in plain sight within a 5×5 grid.

Only one person on each team, the spymaster, knows which agents belong to which team. Spymasters take turns giving one-word clues designed to connect multiple agents on the board, while their teammates decide which cards to guess.

  • Identify your team’s field agents before the opposing team does.
  • Avoid cards belonging to the other team and the neutral cards.
  • Do not guess the assassin, or your team loses immediately.

Every clue creates a challenge: teammates must interpret the spymaster’s meaning while considering several possible cards in the grid. A successful guess can reveal another agent, but a wrong choice may help the opposing team—or end the game at once.

With its familiar Springfield theme and hidden-information wordplay, Codenames: The Simpsons brings the core Codenames competition to a grid filled with Simpsons characters and locations. Players work together, weigh risks, and try to connect the right answers before the other team can uncover theirs.
