About this board game
Coerceo is a strategic board game for two players, designed to be played in about 45 minutes. Its objective is to defeat your opponent by enclosing their pieces and removing them from the board.
The rules are deliberately concise, making Coerceo easy to learn in just a couple of minutes. Both players use identical pieces, and every piece has the same capabilities: moving across the board and enclosing opposing pieces.
- A modular board made from 19 hexagonal tiles
- Six alternating black and white triangles marked on each tile
- 18 tetrahedral, three-sided pyramid-shaped pieces for each player
The 19 tiles begin placed together to form the Coerceo board. As the game progresses, tiles are taken away, causing the playing area to become smaller. This changing board creates a steadily more confined contest, ensuring that the opponent is never far away.
With its limited rules and distinctive components, Coerceo presents a direct strategic challenge centered on movement, positioning, and enclosure. Players must use their identical sets of pieces while the modular board contracts beneath them, changing the available space throughout the game.
Released in 2011, Coerceo offers a compact two-player experience built around a clear objective and an evolving play area. Its combination of a shrinking board and piece-enclosure mechanic gives each match a focused sense of confrontation.
