About this board game

Coffee Roaster is a solo pool-building game for 1 player, designed to play in about 30 minutes. You select coffee varieties, prepare their bean tokens in a bag, and guide them through a carefully controlled roasting process.

Each turn, you randomly draw bean tokens from the bag and raise their roast levels. Reaching a variety’s target roast is only part of the challenge: you must also keep the roast level of its beans even while preserving the flavor that makes the variety distinctive.

Your bag can include more than coffee beans. Smoke tokens and burnt bean tokens interfere with roasting, while rejected bean tokens can damage the taste of the finished coffee. Managing these unwanted tokens is an important part of preparing for the final cup test.

• Choose from 22 coffee-bean varieties.
• Roast three varieties in each game.
• Use flavor effects and special effects from placing tokens on the roast board.
• Evaluate the finished coffee during a cup test and score the result.

To succeed, you need to control the contents of your bag and decide how to use the effects available during roasting. Every draw can influence the balance of the beans, the final flavor, and your score, creating a focused puzzle of timing and preparation.

After cup-testing all three varieties, their combined score determines your rank as a roasting artisan. Coffee Roaster invites you to refine your technique across its selection of beans and pursue the highest distinction: the Meister title.
