About this board game
Cold War Commander is a 2-player tabletop wargame for recreating combined-arms battles from the First Indo-China War through the present day, with games taking about 150 minutes. Players can command anything from a company to a division using miniatures on a tabletop.
Designed for fast-play operations, the rules emphasize the fog of war through a simple but effective command system. A single casualty-resolution mechanism is used throughout, while flexible figure ratios allow an infantry base to represent either a section or a platoon.
- Rules for infantry, tanks, artillery, aircraft, helicopters, missiles, engineers, and fortifications
- Suitable for miniatures from 2mm to 28mm, with no rebasing required
- A points system supporting unequal forces while giving both sides an equal chance of victory
- 33 army lists covering 28 nations and 12 conflicts
- 16 generic scenarios for any nation or theater, plus a simple campaign system
Setup is minimal: assemble the forces and play. Cold War Commander supports solo, 2-player, and multiplayer games at home, in clubs, or at tournaments, making it adaptable to different tabletop groups and settings.
The game comes in a 140-page A4 bound book with more than 60 full-color photographs of miniatures in play, along with a double-sided A4 quick-reference sheet. The complete rules are contained in one book, with no supplements required to play.
