About this board game
Core Worlds: Empires is a worker placement game for 1–5 players, with a listed play time of 300 minutes and rules for solo play. Each player represents one of six independent empires that rose after the fall of the ancient Galactic Realm.
The six kingdoms remain connected by the alliance that enabled their unprecedented conquest of the galaxy, but their shared victory has not ended competition. As the young realms seek to consolidate their power, conflict is inevitable—and the galaxy may once again face civil war.
Each world occupies a space on the game board that an empire’s ambassadors can visit. The worlds appearing during a game are variable, creating a different collection of opportunities for the competing empires. Players begin with a number of Imperial Worlds under their control, including one coveted Core World near the center of the galaxy.
- Worker placement using ambassadors to visit worlds
- Variable worlds appearing during each game
- Imperial Worlds and coveted Core Worlds under player control
- Neutral Worlds that may be visited or annexed
- Rules for solo play and support for 1–5 players
As play proceeds, Neutral Worlds that have recently recovered from the civil war enter the game. Players can visit these worlds or attempt to annex them, expanding their influence while pursuing the strongest possible dominion.
A thematic sequel to the original Core Worlds card game and its expansions, Core Worlds: Empires stands on its own. Players do not need to own the original game to enter this struggle among the galaxy’s new empires.
