Coup: Jester Promo Card

About this expansion

Coup: Jester Promo Card is a 12-card promo pack for Coup, supporting 2–10 players in games that take about 20 minutes. Released in 2015, it adds the Jester as a replacement for the Ambassador.

The Jester introduces Disorder, a role-specific action that lets a player take one card from the Court deck and one card from a Target of their choice. The player may then secretly exchange one of their own cards for one of the cards received.

After this exchange, the player returns one card to the Court deck and one card to their Target. This creates a compact card-management effect involving both the Court and another player, while preserving the hidden nature of the cards involved.

• 12-card pack: five Jester cards, one reference card, and six base cards.
• Jester role: replaces the Ambassador in Coup.
• Disorder: takes a card from the Court deck and a card from a chosen Target, followed by a possible secret exchange.
• Defensive claims: a Target may claim Jester to avoid giving—and therefore receiving—a role card.
• Captain interaction: the Target of the Captain may claim Jester to block Stealing.

The Jester also gives players targeted ways to respond to role-card interactions. A player being targeted can claim the role to avoid the exchange, while a Captain’s Target can use it specifically to stop Stealing.
