About this board game

Dragon Ball: Deckbuilding Game is a cooperative deckbuilding board game for 1–4 players with an approximately 120-minute play time, in which the main characters of Dragon Ball face dangerous villains.

Players work together against a villain controlled by an AI, represented by a deck or another game mechanic. Each foe can bring a different challenge, while minions may activate during the villain’s turn. In most scenarios, a turn-order deck determines when players and enemies act.

The game’s market is created by shuffling five decks, giving the card economy its own distinctive structure. Combat features two types of attacks: physical and energy. Energy attacks have a casting time and can be boosted, creating additional timing and preparation considerations.

  • Buy or steal Dragon Balls and make wishes.
  • Develop characters with allies, equipment, and training.
  • Use characters with individual levels that are not balanced against one another.
  • Face enemies with their own levels and mechanics.

Character development is central to the experience, but defeat carries a serious cost: when a character dies, that character is eliminated until resurrected. This creates a high-stakes cooperative struggle as the team attempts to overcome each villain.

Alongside its cooperative mode, Dragon Ball: Deckbuilding Game includes a 1vs1 mode. The game is being implemented in phases and is currently in its first phase, with a campaign mode planned. Inspired by Aeon’s End and created as a tribute to Akira Toriyama, it combines villain-focused cooperative play with Dragon Ball themes and mechanics.
