Drop It

About this board game

Drop It is a 30-minute game for 2–4 players about dropping shapes into a vertical game board and scoring points wherever they land. Released in 2018, it combines careful placement with unpredictable movement as pieces bounce around before coming to rest.

On each turn, the active player drops one of their pieces into a slot in the board. The goal is to reach valuable positions, but the final result is not always easy to predict. A piece scores for the highest level it touches, along with any special locations it reaches along the way.

The central challenge is knowing what to avoid. If a dropped piece touches another piece of the same shape or color, it scores nothing. Certain pieces are also forbidden from landing in particular spots along the edge of the playing area, adding further restrictions to every drop.

• Drop circles, triangles, squares, and diamonds into the vertical board.
• Score for the highest level a piece touches.
• Gain points from special locations touched during a drop.
• Avoid matching shapes and colors, which result in no score.
• Follow edge restrictions that forbid certain pieces from particular spots.

Because pieces can bounce in unexpected directions, each turn asks players to balance ambition with the risks created by the board. The Drop It rulebook also includes variants for simpler play or greater variety from game to game, making it possible to adjust the experience while keeping the core dropping mechanism intact.
