About this expansion
Dune: War for Arrakis – Desert War is an expansion for 2–4 players that deepens the battle across the burning surface of planet Dune, with an approximate play time of 120 minutes. Released in 2026, it introduces new units for both the Harkonnen and Atreides factions.
The expansion further details the harsh reality of the conflict through specialized forces and battlefield support. Expert Fremen Sandriders summon giant sandworms and ride them into battle with unparalleled skill, bringing one of Dune’s most imposing threats directly into the fight.
Fremen Rocket Launchers emerge from Fremen Camps to fire at Harversters and Ornithopters. Their presence adds a distinct long-range element to the struggle, while the desert remains a dangerous environment for forces operating across its burning surface.
- Expert Fremen Sandriders: Summon giant sandworms and ride them into battle.
- Fremen Rocket Launchers: Fire at Harversters and Ornithopters from Fremen Camps.
- Suspensor Troopers: Scout ahead, launch surprise attacks, and withstand desert hazards.
- Escort Ornithopters: Help move Legions and provide direct support in battle.
Suspensor Troopers can scout ahead for surprise attacks and withstand the hazards of the desert like few others. Escort Ornithopters offer a different kind of advantage, helping move Legions while also providing direct support to them in battle.
With its combination of giant sandworms, rocket fire, scouting forces, and aerial assistance, Desert War expands the military character of Dune: War for Arrakis while keeping the focus on the unforgiving conflict between its rival factions.
