About this board game

Dust in the Wings is a family board game for 2–4 players, with play lasting around 30 minutes. In this nature-themed game of perception, planning, and picturing beauty, you guide butterflies across a meadow to complete objectives and score points.

The game board features a 5×5 grid of meadow spaces, with butterflies placed on each flower at the beginning. On your turn, choose one space and pick up all the butterflies there. Then disperse them one at a time, placing each butterfly onto an adjacent meadow space in a Mancala-style sequence.

Your aim is to place the final butterfly where it completes an objective. Gathering objectives require a precise number and combination of butterfly types on one space. Composition objectives use a group of spaces that must collectively contain the required number of butterflies while also matching the shape and size shown on the card.

• Move butterflies through the meadow using Mancala-inspired play.
• Complete Gathering objectives to collect Scoring markers.
• Complete Composition objectives for points shown on the cards.
• Score only one objective card per turn, even when several are fulfilled.

Every move changes the arrangement of the meadow, creating opportunities for careful planning and visual pattern-building. The rules remain light, while the shifting butterflies and flower-filled grid create an engaging and wondrous table presence.

At the end of the game, add the points from completed Composition cards to the values of your collected Scoring markers. The player with the most points wins.
