About this expansion
Eclipse: Rise of the Ancients – The Tractor Beam is a bonus expansion tile for 2–9 players, associated with a 180-minute game experience. It introduces one clearly defined effect: a player who has the tractor beam prevents enemy spaceships from fleeing from combat with that player.
The Tractor Beam was included as a bonus with the correction sheet for the first edition of Eclipse: Rise of the Ancients. That edition contained five misprinted tiles, and Lautapelit sent out a replacement sheet containing the five corrected tiles. The Tractor Beam accompanied those replacement tiles.
This expansion tile is therefore connected to both the game’s first-edition correction process and its space-combat rules. Its effect is concise and easy to identify during play: when the tile’s holder is involved in combat, enemy spaceships cannot flee from that player.
- Players: 2–9
- Play time: 180 minutes
- Release year: 2012
- Tile effect: Enemy spaceships cannot flee from combat with the player who has the tractor beam.
For players documenting or completing the first-edition correction materials, the Tractor Beam is a notable bonus component. It is a focused addition centered on a single space-combat rule, making its purpose straightforward to reference alongside the corrected tiles.
Whether encountered as part of the replacement materials or catalogued separately, Eclipse: Rise of the Ancients – The Tractor Beam is defined by its distinctive restriction on fleeing from combat and its unusual origin as a bonus included with the corrected first-edition tiles.
