About this expansion

Elder Sign: Grave Consequences is a 2016 expansion for Elder Sign, supporting 1–8 players and a 90-minute play time. Designed by Richard Launius, the creator of Arkham Horror, it adds 50 cards in three modular decks.

Each deck introduces a different way to heighten the challenge and drama of an Elder Sign adventure. Use the decks together or separately, depending on how much additional danger and consequence you want to bring to the game.

  • Phobia: Give investigators lasting negative effects.
  • Epitaph: Build a tiny graveyard for the fallen.
  • Epic Battle: Ramp up the difficulty and danger when battling the Ancient One.

These three decks are fully compatible with the core game and all of its expansions. Because they are modular, Grave Consequences can be adapted to suit each adventure without requiring every new card type at once.

Whether you add one deck or all three, the expansion makes the consequences of an investigation more pronounced. Lasting effects can stay with investigators, fallen characters can become part of a growing graveyard, and the final battle against the Ancient One can become even more dangerous.

Elder Sign: Grave Consequences also aims to immerse players more deeply in the game’s world and help them connect more fully with the investigator they are playing. It is a flexible addition for groups seeking extra challenge, drama, and thematic depth in their Elder Sign sessions.
