Explorers

About this board game

Explorers is a tactical landscape exploration game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 20 minutes. From a starting village, each player sets out across a changing map, expanding their territory over four rounds.

At the beginning of the game, each explorer places four landscape tiles and three different scoring tiles in their game frame. The landscapes include:

• Grasslands
• Bodies of water
• Desert
• Mountains

On a turn, reveal an exploration card showing two landscape types, then choose one of them and cross off three spaces ahead of your current location. The other players must respond to the same card: they can cross off two spaces on the landscape you chose, or cross off three spaces on the other landscape. Because every cross must be orthogonally adjacent to your existing route, each decision matters. Poor choices can leave your expedition stuck, so careful planning is essential.

As your territory grows, checked boxes containing objects provide special actions. Provisions and gems contribute points, while a map lets you place crosses on any type of terrain. Keys allow you to explore lost temples, but the player who reaches a temple first receives the most points for it.

Explorers includes a solo version for solitary expeditions, as well as additional task tiles for experienced players. With more than a million possible game combinations, each journey offers a fresh challenge built around route planning, flexible choices, and the race to valuable discoveries.
