About this board game

Fancy Feathers is a 30-minute card game for two players, in which you search for noble pheasants and compete to finish with the most precious animal collection. By order of your baroness, move along a changing row of cards while judging when to advance and when to wait.

At setup, choose six of the twelve card types included in the game. This creates 924 possible combinations of card types. After the deck is prepared, five cards are placed face up in a row, and the player tokens begin in a random stack.

On your turn, move your token as far along the row as you wish, stopping on a card or another player token. The position of every token matters: if you begin your turn alone on a card at the back of the row, you collect that card and any cards behind you. New cards are then added so that five cards remain in front of the player farthest down the row, and the player at the back takes the next turn.

• Choose six card types from twelve for varied setups.
• Move along a row while collecting valuable cards and avoiding annoying ones.
• Use token positions and timing to claim cards before your rival.
• Exit the row once the deck has been fully placed, then compare scores.

When the final cards enter the row, you may choose to exit instead of moving. The game ends for you when you leave, and once everyone has exited, players tally their points to determine the winner.

Fancy Feathers works with up to six players, although additional copies are needed to play with more than two people and provide the required animal cards and wooden discs.
