About this board game

Fantasy Ranch is a horse-ranching board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 75 minutes. Over five rounds, players build a stable, expand their property, compete in horse shows, and work toward creating the best ranch around.

Begin by drafting a stable of four Horse cards and choosing one of six double-sided Ranch tiles for your horses to call home. As your ranch develops, custom horse meeples help bring your growing stable to life. On each turn, choose from three actions, including buying land, purchasing more horses, or farming your ranch.

• Build your ranch: Grow from a simple homestead into a wealthy landowner while managing how much property you can control.
• Develop your stable: Choose from a wide variety of actual horses and give them an advantage in shows through training.
• Use special abilities: Hire skilled employees for additional actions and powers, and pursue Twist of Fate cards for rewards.
• Compete for trophies: Earn them through horse sets, shows, Twist of Fate cards, land ownership, completed ranches, and taking over rival property.

Horse shows use dice based on your horses’ show skills. Training can improve your chances, but the dice keep competitions unpredictable. Alongside resource management, area control gives players another way to challenge one another as they claim and defend valuable property.

Fantasy Ranch includes three difficulty levels, making it suitable for both new players and more experienced ranchers. It also includes The Trail Ride, a bonus game designed for children as young as five. With three skill levels, kids can compete in shows, raise foals, and buy or trade horses as they grow into the role of trail boss.
