About this board game

Flash 10 is a fast simultaneous card game for 2–5 players, with rounds lasting about 20 minutes. Players race to arrange ten cards in ascending numerical order while drawing and placing cards as quickly as possible.

The 120-card deck contains 100 numbered cards from 0 to 99 and 20 thunderstorm cards. Numbered cards ending in 0 or 5 show a lightning bolt, creating another way to score during every round.

Each player receives ten cards face down and lays them in a row without rearranging them. Everyone reveals their cards, then simultaneously takes cards from the scattered center of the table, placing each new card on one of their ten positions to build stacks. A thunderstorm card may be placed on any stack.

As soon as a player has ten number cards in ascending order from left to right, they call “Stop!” If the arrangement is correct, that player scores for completing the row and for ending the round. Other players score for the cards in order from their leftmost position.

  • A correct finisher scores 10 points, plus 2 points for ending the round.
  • Each lightning-bolt card is worth 1 point, whether or not it is in order.
  • Each thunderstorm card is worth -1 point.

After scoring, the cards are shuffled and another round begins. The first player to reach 50 or more points wins, making every quick decision and risky draw matter.

Flash 10 also includes two variants. Players may allow a round to end with thunderstorm cards in their row, or use nine cards arranged in ascending order and then descending order, with the fifth card as the turning point.
