About this board game

Formula D is a high-stakes racing game for 2–10 players, with races lasting about 60 minutes. Players guide simulated Formula One or street-racing cars toward the finish line, balancing careful planning with unpredictable dice rolls.

Each turn, drivers may shift up one gear, stay where they are, or downshift. Every gear uses a different die and movement range, so choosing the right speed means matching possible rolls to the track ahead. Corners add another challenge: cars must stop once, twice, or three times in consecutive turns, or suffer a penalty for taking the corner too quickly.

Racing lines and vehicle condition matter as much as raw speed. Missing a roll, colliding with another car, getting blocked, braking heavily, or downshifting several gears can reduce vital car attributes. Damage to the tires, brakes, transmission, body, engine, or suspension may eventually eliminate a car or cause a severe setback.

• Formula One and street tracks: The boards feature an F1 circuit on one side and a city street track on the other.
• Customizable racing: Optional rules include custom cars, character profiles, tire types, slipstreaming, road debris, and weather effects such as rain.
• Street-racing twists: Street tracks can introduce nitro acceleration, drifting, dirty tricks, gun battles, and trash on the road.
• Multiple race formats: Play a single lap, race multiple laps with pit stops, or use championship-style rally rules across several races.

Pre-painted Formula One and street-race cars, along with dashboards and movable pegs for tracking attributes, give the game a strong table presence. With expansion tracks, alternate rules, and substantial luck that can give less experienced players a chance, Formula D offers a flexible racing system for casual games and extended competition.
