About this board game
Forwarder of Xanadu is a modular-board pick-up-and-deliver game for 3–5 players, with play lasting about 120 minutes. Each player operates a freight company, carrying goods between locations to fulfill orders and gain points.
At the start of the game, the board is assembled from modular elements. Locations have different types, while randomly drawn order cards specify the type of location required, the amount of goods, and the desired quality. These changing requirements create a puzzle of planning and transportation.
On each turn, players can choose an action that advances their freight operation. The available actions include:
- Produce goods at the starting space.
- Freight goods to other spaces on the board.
- Enhance goods at the starting space.
- Fulfill an order by delivering the required goods.
Goods can be produced and enhanced only in the starting space, so efficient movement is essential. Players must consider where goods need to go, when they should be improved, and how to meet the requirements shown on their order cards.
Forwarder of Xanadu also asks players to plan ahead and decide which abilities to upgrade. Improving the right abilities can make a freight company more efficient, but each player must choose a development path that supports their delivery plans.
With its modular board, variable orders, freight decisions, and ability upgrades, Forwarder of Xanadu centers on thoughtful logistics. Players compete to carry the right goods to the right locations and turn successful deliveries into points.
