Garbage Day

About this board game

Garbage Day is a 2016 game for 2–5 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Players compete in a sly battle of wits, trying to avoid taking out the trash while carefully managing garbage cards.

On each turn, choose between two risky options. Stack one garbage card at a time onto the overflowing garbage can, or stash garbage cards in your room. Every card placed can bring you closer to victory—or closer to a messy collapse.

Rooms do not offer unlimited hiding space. Once your room gets too full, you must clean it by moving all the cards from that room onto the garbage can, stacking them carefully one by one. This can turn a secret stash into a very public problem.

• Stack garbage cards onto the overflowing can.
• Stash garbage cards in your room to avoid immediate responsibility.
• Clean an overfilled room by placing all its cards on the can.
• Take fallen cards into your overflow pile.

If garbage cards fall from the can during your turn, they go into your overflow pile. Let that pile get too big and you are eliminated. The last player remaining wins, so every careful placement—and every tempting attempt to hide the mess—can make the difference.

With its roommate-themed struggle of banana peels, candy wrappers, and suspiciously hidden cartons, Garbage Day turns an ordinary chore into a contest of cunning. Stack carefully, stash wisely, and try to be the one player who avoids the final garbage run.
