About this expansion
Ghost Stories: The Guardhouse Expansion adds a new village tile and five ghost cards to the original game for 1–4 players, with play lasting about 60 minutes.
During setup, the village is built as usual after one of the ten village tiles, including the Guardhouse, is removed. The four new ghost cards are shuffled into the deck, and four random ghosts are removed.
The Guardhouse gives players a way to influence what appears next. Its effect lets you look at the top four ghosts on the deck, return them to the top in any order you choose, and receive one Tao token of your choice.
The expansion includes five new cards: four ghosts and one Wu-Feng. These cards pay homage to five real-world people involved with the creation of Ghost Stories:
- Bauza
- Provoost
- Caumont
- Pierô
- Coralie
By combining a fresh village location with carefully arranged ghost draws, the Guardhouse adds a focused deck-ordering element to the original game. The result is a compact expansion that changes the available village setup while introducing themed cards connected to Ghost Stories’ creation.
Released in 2008, Ghost Stories: The Guardhouse Expansion is designed to be added directly to the original game. Its new tile, Tao token reward, and homage cards provide a distinct addition without changing the core setup process.
