Ghostbusters: Protect the Barrier Game

Ghostbusters: Protect the Barrier Game is a 2–4 player game with a playing time of about 30 minutes, in which players must recover eight Paranormal Energy Devices from the Mercado Building before it becomes completely haunted.

The evil Rowan is trying to break open the Durable But Not Impenetrable Barrier and release the dead. The Ghostbusters must search the building, collect every PED, and help all four Ghostbusters escape before the fourth Cataclysm begins.

On a turn, players roll dice to determine how far they may move and whether a new ghost is added to the board. Ending movement in a space with a PED lets a player pick it up. Ending in a space with a ghost starts a fight using the fight die; rolling the matching symbol removes that ghost from the board.

Keeping track of the ghost figures is essential. If a third ghost must be added to a room, that room becomes a haunting. At least two people in the room are required to attempt a fight with a haunting, and if six rooms are haunted at the same time, the players lose.

Rowan is a special ghost figure that cannot be killed. When Rowan’s card appears, players draw the next card and move Rowan to that room. If the room becomes a haunting, Rowan automatically moves to the next room.
