About this board game
Go Gecko Go! is a 20-minute roll-and-move race for 2–4 players, released in 2019, in which animal teams swim toward the finish while piling smaller animals onto larger ones.
Each swimming team includes a crocodile, turtle, frog, and gecko, with every meeple differing in size. Larger animals can give smaller animals piggyback rides, helping players move their complete team together while creating an important challenge: the higher the stack, the more carefully players must watch the next bridge.
On a turn, players choose between two ways to advance. They can add a tile to their stream in the river, shifting all animals at the same time. Alternatively, they can roll three dice and select a combination of icons from the result.
- Build a stack: Place smaller animals on larger ones for shared movement.
- Shift the river: Add a stream tile to move all animals at once.
- Use the dice: Roll three dice and choose a combination of icons.
- Watch the bridges: Stacks that are too high are knocked off when they meet a bridge.
Bridge height creates a constant tactical consideration. Animals piled too high cannot pass safely and may be knocked off, while the shifting action is the only way to get past such obstacles. Players must balance the speed of their movement with the shape and height of their animal stack.
The first player to get their full animal team to the finish wins. Although Go Gecko Go! is built around rolling and moving, its small strategic decisions make every turn matter as players try to outpace their opponents.
