About this board game

GODŌ: The five paths is a strategy board game for 1–5 players, with games lasting around 30 minutes. In a mysterious mountain temple, players pursue enlightenment by mastering five virtues while expanding the temple grounds and competing to achieve perfect balance.

Players build the temple by placing triangular tiles that connect intersections with colored paths. Each player records their progress on a personal Path Journal. To travel along a path, you must practice the matching virtue by moving its token backward on your Journal, representing the sacrifice required for progress. Once a virtue is fully mastered, its paths can be traveled freely.

The five virtues are:

  • Kindness
  • Righteousness
  • Respect
  • Wisdom
  • Trust

Intersections offer opportunities to collect virtue tokens and encounter special markers. Fox Shrines allow virtues to be exchanged, Stone Lanterns bring movement to an end, and Sacred Gates provide teleportation. Players use the tokens they gather to advance on their Path Journals and work toward mastering every virtue.

Success in GODŌ depends on thoughtful tile placement, path creation, efficient movement, and careful resource management. The first player to master all five virtues wins. The game also includes a solo mode and a variant play option that introduces additional abilities, offering further ways to experience the temple’s five paths.
