Guess the Mess!

About this board game

Guess the Mess! is a searching and guessing game for 3–8 players, with rounds that take about 35 minutes to play.

At the start of each round, every player takes a place card showing a secret location, such as “in the attic” or “under the dock.” When the thirty-second timer begins, everyone searches through face-down mess cards, looking for items that fit their particular location.

When time runs out, a “Which Way” card determines how the collected mess cards are passed around the table. The place cards are then revealed in the center, giving everyone a set of possible locations to consider.

• Choose a secret place card.
• Search face-down mess cards before the timer ends.
• Pass the mess cards in the direction shown.
• Guess which revealed location matches the cards you hold.

The challenge in Guess the Mess! comes from connecting objects with places while also trying to work out what other players may have been searching for. Once the locations are visible, examine the mess cards in front of you and make your guess.

If the guess is correct, both the guesser and the messmaker score points. With a short search window, changing card arrangements, and hidden locations revealed only after the search, each round combines quick decisions with deduction.
