About this expansion

Hansa Teutonica: Emperor’s Favour is a 2016 game for 2–5 players with an approximately 90-minute play time. It adds a set of Emperor’s Favour letters and six tokens to the game experience.

At setup, shuffle all Emperor’s Favour letters face down. Randomly select a number equal to the number of players, then place those letters face up next to the game board. These displayed options establish the Favors available for players to choose from.

At the beginning of your turn, you may decide to pass and lose all your actions in order to buy a Favor of your choice. The cost is two of your unused bonus markers. Turn the paid markers face down: their special abilities can no longer be used, but they still provide prestige points at the end of the game.

Once purchased, place the Favor face up in front of you. Its effect remains in place for you for the rest of the game, making the decision to spend bonus markers a lasting commitment rather than a temporary exchange. You may purchase only one Favor per turn.

  • Shuffle the Emperor’s Favour letters during setup.
  • Reveal one letter per player next to the board.
  • Pass your turn and pay two unused bonus markers to buy a Favor.
  • Keep the paid markers’ end-game prestige points, but lose their special abilities.

Contained in the Brettspiel Adventskalender 2016 for Day 4 and in the Hansa Teutonica: Big Box, Hansa Teutonica: Emperor’s Favour offers a focused choice between using a turn now and securing an effect that lasts for the remainder of the game.
