About this expansion
Hawaii: Kamapua’a’s Gunst is a Spielbox expansion for Hawaii for 2–5 players, with a playing time of approximately 90 minutes. Released in 2012, it adds new tiles, fish-related components, and a special scoring marker to the game.
The expansion introduces the new god Kamapua’a, represented by two tiles. On the front side, Kamapua’a provides one fruit per turn and awards 2 VP for each permanent fish tile at the end of the game. On the backside, the benefit increases to two fruit per turn, while the end-game reward becomes 4 VP per permanent fish tile.
- Two new islands: Each provides one fruit, one foot, one shell, and one VP.
- Permanent fish tiles: These replace the 5 and 6 tiles in the bag.
- New fish and price chips: These expand the available components for the Hawaii system.
- 2 VP spear marker: This is placed in the first pass place during the last round.
When a permanent fish tile is drawn, the player keeps it and receives two fish every round. The tile is then replaced in the bag by a 5 or 6 tile, maintaining the supply while adding a lasting fish benefit for the player who found it.
With its alternate Kamapua’a abilities, resource-providing islands, permanent fish, and late-round scoring marker, Hawaii: Kamapua’a’s Gunst offers additional ways to use fruit, fish, and other island resources within the original game.
