Haze Islands

About this board game

Haze Islands is a 1–3 player pirate adventure game with an approximately 60-minute play time, released in 2016. Sail between islands, search for resources, fight, loot treasure, and try to survive a mysterious force bent on revenge.

You and your band of scallywag pirates are in serious trouble. Something unseen has followed your ship, growing stronger with rage. To escape its pursuit, you must make careful use of the wind, the map, and every resource you can find.

Players use the map deck to expand the board and take actions that shape their adventure. During play, you can:

• Expand the map and move between islands
• Search for resources and place workers
• Complete adventure cards
• Attack other players
• Loot treasure and spend it on adventures

At the end of each round, the AI player grows stronger and moves to attack the nearest player. This creates constant pressure to finish your turn as far away as possible, either by expanding the map or moving to a safer position.

Resources in hand and larger boards make rounds shorter, increasing the challenge as the game progresses. Pirates may be eliminated by the AI or by other players, leaving only those who can withstand the growing danger.

In Haze Islands, survival is only part of the story. The last surviving pirate aims to have the most points and the best adventure to tell; if both players survive, their completed adventures determine the winner.
