About this board game

Heroscape Marvel: The Conflict Begins is a two-player miniatures battle game from 2007, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Players command plastic figures representing Marvel Universe heroes and villains, using character cards to guide movement and combat.

Build a unique three-dimensional battlefield by attaching and stacking terrain tiles in different sizes. The included battlefield and scenario section provides eight scenarios and two terrain layouts, supporting objectives such as eliminating an opponent, reaching a designated space, protecting a figure, or surviving for a set number of turns.

The rulebook includes two ways to play. The basic game is designed for younger players and focuses on movement, attacks, defense, and range, while leaving out special powers and simplifying or removing several other rules.

The master game adds more depth with special powers, wounds, engagement rules, falling rules, and other additional mechanics. Each unit has a movement rating measured in hexes, and combat uses the attack and defense values shown on its card. Extra hits become wounds, and some figures can suffer more than one wound.

  • Buildable battlefields made from stackable terrain tiles
  • Marvel heroes and villains represented by plastic figures
  • Eight scenarios and two terrain layouts
  • Basic and master rules for different levels of play

In the master game, players alternate drafting cards until they reach the scenario’s assigned point value. Players can also bring a pre-built army to the battle when they want to save time. Heroscape Marvel: The Conflict Begins combines customizable terrain, recognizable characters, and varied victory objectives in a flexible head-to-head battle.
