About this board game
Hexen Rennen is a race game for 2–4 players, with each player guiding a team of three witches through a randomly assembled obstacle course. A game takes approximately 45 minutes.
Each course is created from 48 cardboard disks, giving every game a different layout. The disks begin face down, keeping the obstacles hidden as the witches set out and making the race especially challenging for those in front.
Movement comes from two sources: the cards in your hand and the board itself. You must use both as your team attempts to run its witches through the course, adapting to the changing demands of the race.
- Race a team of three witches.
- Build a random obstacle course from 48 cardboard disks.
- Use hand cards and the board to move your witches.
- Navigate face-down disks that make leading a risky position.
The hidden layout creates an unusual balance between progress and uncertainty. Moving ahead may put your witches in the most difficult position, since the leaders face obstacles before the course has been revealed.
With its combination of card-driven movement, a changing board, and concealed obstacles, Hexen Rennen turns a straightforward race into a contest where the course itself affects every player. Released in 2001, it is designed for 2–4 players seeking a race across a different obstacle course each time.
