About this board game

Inception: Solo card game is a 1-player card game that takes around 60 minutes, challenging you to guide Cobb and his team through layered dreams.

Fischer is the target, Saito is the client, and the mission is to plant an idea deep inside Fischer’s mind. Recruit team members, sedate Fischer in waking reality, and descend through a dream within a dream within another dream. The deeper you go, the more carefully you must prepare for the final Kick back home.

Each turn, draw two cards and decide how best to use them. Some negative Flashback cards take effect immediately, while other cards can be played for single-use effects, attached as weapons to strengthen characters, or placed in the Convince Display for later attempts to convince opponents or plant Inceptions.

  • Draw Event cards from the Dream Level where your characters are currently located.
  • Evade attacks, fight adversaries, and face Fischer’s dream police.
  • Manage cards in hand so you can react to Events or boost your strength while defending.
  • Find team members in Limbo and convince them to return.

Cobb’s adversaries and his wife Mal can disrupt the operation, while team members may die during the mission and require rescue from Limbo. Your tactical choices determine whether the team can keep moving deeper and survive the escalating challenges.

To win in Inception: Solo card game, the final Inception must succeed, Mal must be dead, and Saito, Cobb, plus enough team members for the final Kick must still be alive. Designed for the 2012 BGG Solitaire Print and Play Contest, the game is available as a print-and-play project, PC game, and Vassal module.
