About this board game
Kapitän Wackelpudding is a funny family game for 2–5 players, with play time of about 30 minutes. Players push Captain Jelly’s boat from port to port, collecting cargo as they travel around the island.
Each visit adds more cargo to the boat, making every push a little more precarious. As cargo falls from the boat during movement, the player must keep those fallen bits. The game turns a simple journey between ports into a playful test of control and careful handling.
One of the ports introduces an extra challenge: draw a card and follow its effect. Instructions can include using only your left hand or keeping one eye shut, creating amusing moments as players try to continue moving the boat under unusual conditions.
- Push the boat from port to port.
- Collect cargo at each port.
- Keep any cargo that falls off while pushing.
- Follow special instructions when a card is drawn.
The game ends when the island runs out of bits. At that point, the player with the least amount of bits wins, giving fallen cargo an important role throughout the game. The growing load and changing card effects keep the action lighthearted and unpredictable.
Released in 1994, Kapitän Wackelpudding is described as suitable for gamers as well as children. Its combination of physical play, simple movement between ports, and humorous restrictions makes it an approachable choice for groups looking for a distinctive and entertaining game.
