About this expansion

Keyflower: Key Celeste is a mini-expansion for Keyflower for 2–6 players, with games lasting approximately 90 minutes. Released in 2013, it introduces the abandoned Key Celeste ship and a ghostly new way to interfere with bids.

The expansion includes one large Key Celeste hexagonal tile, one oversized grey ghost keyple, and a rules sheet. Players bid for the Key Celeste tile and obtain the ghost in the same way they bid for the turn order tiles.

Once acquired, the ghost gives its owner a powerful option: it can frighten away and replace another player’s winning bid. The player who plays the ghost takes the replaced worker or workers and places them behind their screen. Those workers then become available for that player to play in the usual way.

  • One large Key Celeste hexagonal tile
  • One oversized grey ghost keyple
  • A new way to challenge and replace a winning bid
  • End-game points for the Key Celeste tile and, in some cases, the ghost

At the end of the game, points are available to the owner of the Key Celeste tile. Additional points are available for the ghost when the same player owns both the tile and the ghost, creating another consideration during play.

With its eerie theme and distinctive bidding effect, Key Celeste adds interest and new decisions to Keyflower. Its rules can change the significance of bids and worker availability in ways that may not be immediately apparent, making this small expansion a notable addition for players seeking a different experience with the popular game.
