About this expansion

King of Tokyo: The Horde Promo Card is a 2014 promotional card for 2–6 players, designed for games that last about 30 minutes. Released through the Zombie 15’ Kickstarter campaign, it adds a relentless zombie threat to the giant-monster chaos of King of Tokyo.

Once this card is in play, the zombie horde attacks at the end of every turn. Every monster takes 1 damage, including the monster whose turn has just ended, unless the active player pays 1 energy cube.

Paying the energy cube distracts the zombies with a glowing ball of energy, so nobody is bitten that turn. If the player does not—or cannot—pay, the horde gnaws at every monster on the battlefield, making the effect global rather than limited to a single target.

  • End-of-turn pressure: Resolve the horde’s effect after each turn.
  • One energy cube: Pay 1 energy to prevent the damage for that turn.
  • Damage to all monsters: If no payment is made, every monster, including yours, takes 1 damage.

The Horde Promo Card creates a constant choice between spending energy and accepting universal damage. Its effect can make an already dangerous situation even more desperate, while giving every turn an entertaining zombie-themed complication.

Whether the monster is a giant king, a metallic bunny, or even the Kraken, the horde keeps coming. Add King of Tokyo: The Horde Promo Card to a game for a playful, punishing twist that affects the entire monster population.
