About this board game
Last Week of Summer is a 1–4 player board game with an approximately 90-minute play time, set during the summer of 1986 just after high school graduation.
You have one final week before heading into the real world. Plan your days, move around town, and compete to make friends with the coolest kids, earn invitations to the best parties, and complete goals tied to the locations you visit.
Each game uses four or five locations from the available town options. The Video Store, Arcade, Fast Food restaurant, U-Mart, Music Store, and Skatepark each connect an ’80s theme with a distinct classic mechanism. Across the town, you may encounter set collection, tile placement, market manipulation, mancala, push-your-luck, dice rolling, and more.
- Video Store: pick up a movie.
- Arcade: chase high scores.
- Fast Food: take a break for a bite.
- U-Mart: visit a familiar local stop.
- Music Store: find albums that are cool—but not too cool.
- Skatepark: learn some tricks.
Before each day unfolds, players plan their movements and then move simultaneously from place to place. As you complete location-specific goals, you make memories by placing cassettes on locations. These cassettes represent the songs that bring you back to those summer days.
At the end of the week, the player with the most cassettes wins. Combining turn programming, worker placement, and a variety of mini games, Last Week of Summer turns one last stretch of freedom into a competition for the most memorable summer.
