Little Big Fish

About this board game

Little Big Fish is a tactical game for two players that takes about 20 minutes, with each player racing to capture five fish first. Its sea is formed from four boards pushed together into a square, creating a changing arena for aquatic maneuvering.

Each player begins with three little fish in the first line of an empty sea tile. Small fish are fast and can pass through shipwrecks, but they are vulnerable to every other size. Medium fish can capture small and medium fish, while big fish can capture fish of any size.

Fish grow by eating plankton. When a fish moves onto a space containing a fish of the same size or smaller, it captures that fish. On each turn, move one fish two spaces or move two of your fish one space each. Movement is orthogonal, and the action on a space must be resolved before taking a second move.

• Plankton: Grow the fish that moves onto it.
• Birth spaces: Add a little fish from your reserve to the board.
• Shipwrecks: Use these tunnels with small fish only.
• Question-mark spaces: Draw a tile, take its action, then discard it.

Question-mark actions can rotate part of the board, put a fisherman to work, or cause an unexpected birth. Medium and big fish cannot pass through shipwrecks, so size brings strength but limits movement. Plan each route carefully in Little Big Fish and be the first player to eat five fish.
