Lock ‘n Load Tactical: Dark July 43

Lock ‘n Load Tactical: Dark July 43 is a two-player tactical expansion for games lasting about 280 minutes, depicting the brutal battles west of Prochorovka from July 9th to 12th, 1943, during the Battle of Kursk.

Players take the roles of the determined Soviet defenders of the Motherland or the brazen 1st SS Panzergrenadier Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler (LAH). Across six scenarios, tactical decisions are tested in five engagements set on the historical battlefield and one additional scenario.

The battlefield is formed from four 11″ x 17″ non-geomorphic maps, which fit together into an immense 22″ x 34″ historical map. It covers famed Hill 252.2, the Soviet trenches to the east, and the Oktiabrski State Farm to the north.

• Four maps combining into a 22″ x 34″ battlefield
• Rules for RPG-43 hand-held anti-tank grenades
• Anti-tank mines and ditches
• Low wheat, tank emplacements, and roadblocks

These battlefield features and specialized rules add historical detail to the fighting, from defensive trenches and roadblocks to anti-tank obstacles and concealed threats. The result is a focused tactical contest set against one of the Second World War’s most famous battles.

Dark July 43 is an expansion module and requires either Lock ‘n Load Tactical: Heroes of the Motherland or Lock ‘n Load: Band of Heroes together with Lock ‘n Load: Not One Step Back to play. Originally released in 2008, Lock ‘n Load Tactical: Dark July 43 brings the fighting west of Prochorovka to the table.
