About this board game
Lords of Creation is a board game for 2-5 players, with an approximate playing time of 120 minutes, in which players become Gods seeking to dominate a world through their followers.
The game begins with the players constructing the game board. Once the world is prepared, players take turns using cards to determine how many new people appear and what type of terrain those people will inhabit. These decisions shape the developing world and provide the setting for the struggle between rival followers.
Every tribe starts as a group of barbarians. As the game progresses, the calming effect of civilization changes the way these tribes behave. Civilized tribes score more, but they can no longer attack, creating an important contrast between the rewards of civilization and the freedom of barbarian followers.
- Construct the game board before play begins.
- Use cards to determine new people and their terrain.
- Guide tribes from barbarism toward civilization.
- Balance higher scoring against the loss of attacking ability.
Civilized tribes still have another powerful option: they can civilize other players’ followers. This gives those opponents more points, but it also means those followers will no longer be able to attack you. The choice can therefore affect both scoring and the immediate danger posed by rival tribes.
With its evolving board, card-driven population and terrain decisions, and changing relationship between barbarian aggression and civilized scoring, Lords of Creation presents a contest for control in which every tribe’s development can influence the fortunes of the Gods.
