About this board game

Lost Woods is a map exploration game for 1–6 players, playable in about 60 minutes, in which adventurers search for a way out while competing to collect the most gold.

Players begin at a camp in the middle of the Lost Woods with only random household items. Each turn, they move across the map and explore new areas by laying down a card that represents a place in the woods. Every new location can bring opportunity or danger.

• Discover powerful weapons and magic spells.
• Face enemies that block your path.
• Collect gold—or watch out for a sneaky gnome that steals it.
• Search for a way to escape the Lost Woods.

Combat uses a simple dice mechanic. Each weapon and enemy rolls a single die, with power determined by the die’s number of sides, ranging from a d4 to a d20. Defeating an enemy earns a number of gold pieces, making battles an important part of the race to victory.

As someone gets close to leaving, the Guardian appears to block the way. This formidable obstacle also offers a large amount of gold to anyone who can defeat it, creating a decisive challenge near the end of the game.

The game ends when a player finds a way out of the Lost Woods. The winner is the player with the most gold; if players are tied, they must battle each other. First released in 2015, Lost Woods combines map discovery, dice-based combat, treasure hunting, and a race for escape in one compact adventure.
