Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond — The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth is a 2023 crossover expansion for 2–8 players, bringing the world of Middle-earth to Magic: The Gathering cards.

This full-size, draftable booster set depicts events from The Lord of the Rings novels on Magic cards for the first time. It combines the setting’s iconic world with familiar Magic gameplay and introduces a new way to represent the influence of the Ring.

The set brings back the Amass mechanic, originally seen in War of the Spark. It also introduces The Ring tempts you. When the Ring tempts you, you choose a creature to become your ringbearer; that creature becomes legendary and gains a suite of special abilities.

Those ringbearer abilities become more potent each time you are tempted, creating a growing connection between your chosen creature and the Ring throughout the game.
