About this board game

Malediction is a 2–4 player miniature battle and deck-construction game with an approximate 90-minute play time, released in 2025. As a Seeker, you lead a warband into the accursed grounds of the Malediction, battling enemies and claiming relics from the husks of their former wielders.

Each round, you gain echo—your key resource—equal to twice the round number. Use it to pay for the units, items, and spells in your custom deck, steadily building your warband while managing the resources needed to keep your plans moving.

Players can face one another head-to-head or play in teams. Bring your choice of terrain set to create the battlefield, then choose a Seeker whose distinct play style and associated faction open up different ways to combine cards. With cards drawn and echo gained every round, each match can bring unexpected developments.

The goal is to reach a scenario’s mastery threshold. You gain mastery by defeating enemies and by holding relics claimed from nearby, uncontested husks at the end of a round.

Every round follows four phases:

  • Refresh: Gain echo, refresh units, draw two cards, and resolve an initiative bid.
  • Deploy: Place units and items onto the battlefield.
  • Action: Alternate turns activating units.
  • End: Attempt to claim relics and check for victory.

If no player has won, the next round begins. In Malediction, careful resource management, tactical activation, and the timing of relic claims all contribute to the race for mastery.
