About this expansion

Merlin: Queenie 2 – The King’s Decree is a 2017 board game for 2–4 players, offering difficult choices across six principality spaces.

When a player reaches a principality space with a placed henchman, they are not limited to taking the henchman’s action. Instead, they may choose to take a decree, creating an alternative route toward useful resources, special effects, and victory points.

Decrees can provide building materials, shields, or flags that are not associated with that principality. This gives players access to benefits outside the usual connection of a space, while also introducing another important decision whenever a decree is available.

  • Choose between the action of a placed henchman and taking a decree.
  • Gain building materials, shields, or flags from outside a principality’s association.
  • Take decrees that provide additional victory points.
  • Turn in sets of decrees for special actions.

Collecting decrees can be valuable beyond their individual rewards. Sets may be turned in for special actions that range from manipulating the dice to gathering specific resources, giving players more ways to influence their situation.

Some decree combinations can also provide outright victory points. As a result, every choice in Merlin: Queenie 2 – The King’s Decree can involve weighing an immediate action against the longer-term value of collecting and exchanging decrees.
