About this board game

Micro City is a solo city-building board game for 1 player, designed to play in about 30 minutes and released in 2018. Build your city at home, on a train, or on a plane as you work toward completing its buildings within a limited number of rounds.

Several game modes, difficulty levels, and the random distribution of districts help make each game different. Your objective depends on the mode selected, but the central challenge is building structures and paying for them with the materials you gather.

In every round, you play one card. That card can provide a material or let you perform its listed action. You can also strengthen the action by activating one of your two dice, creating important choices about how to use your limited resources.

  • Play a card as a material or use its action.
  • Activate dice to strengthen actions or gain more materials.
  • Use district actions while planning around their availability.
  • Consider unlocking districts that have already been used.

Each card played also advances time and forces your pawn to move to the next district in the city. You may benefit from the action of the district you enter, but you cannot use the same region in consecutive rounds. Planning ahead is essential, especially when the number of available rounds is restricted.

Should you spend a die to make a card action stronger, use dice to collect more materials, or give up other advantages to unlock a previously used district? Micro City turns every round into a compact series of hard decisions, and victory comes only when you have built all the buildings required by your chosen mode.
