About this board game

Microworld is a challenging 2016 board game for exactly two players, with each game taking about 20 minutes. One player controls a virus, while the other commands antibodies in a contest shaped by tactical tile placement and area majorities.

On your turn, you place a tile next to the tile your opponent placed on their previous turn. This simple restriction creates a focused exchange, as every placement helps determine the developing shape of the microworld and the opportunities available on later turns.

Special tokens on the board add another layer of choice. When collected, they can be used at any time as a special action, giving both sides additional ways to influence the contest beyond ordinary tile placement.

  • Designed exclusively for two players
  • Approximately 20 minutes per game
  • Virus-versus-antibodies gameplay
  • Tile placement linked to the opponent’s previous move
  • Special tokens that can be used as actions
  • Majority scoring across the areas of the microworld

During play, you score points for your own tiles in the neighborhood. When the game ends, the scoring continues with a majority contest in each area of the microworld, rewarding players who have established the stronger presence across these spaces.

Microworld also includes eight modular rules that change how the game plays. These rules can be combined in any way desired, allowing players to vary the experience while keeping the central virus-versus-antibodies struggle intact.
