About this board game
Mystery Mansion is a search game for 3–4 players, with a playing time of 90 minutes, in which you build a Victorian mansion room by room while hunting for hidden treasure.
The mansion grows as you add new rooms to existing rooms by rolling a special die. Every room contains numerous objects, and each one could conceal a clue pointing toward the Real Treasure. The changing mansion gives you new places to explore as the search unfolds.
Search cards let you look behind, under, and inside the objects shown on them. If you hold a Search card that matches an object in the same room as your pawn, play it to draw a Clue card. The clue may reveal something valuable—or nothing useful at all.
- Build a Victorian Mansion room by room.
- Use Search cards to investigate objects.
- Draw Clue cards, including Treasure Chests, keys, Secret Passages, or Cobwebs and Dust.
- Match a key to its chest and take the chest outside the mansion to open it.
A clue can be a Treasure Chest, a key that opens a chest, a Secret Passage, or merely Cobwebs and Dust. If you own a key matching a chest, haul that chest out of the mansion. Only then can you lift the lid and discover whether it contains gold and jewels or an empty disappointment of cobwebs and dust.
Released in 1984, Mystery Mansion combines mansion-building, object searches, and suspenseful treasure reveals in one distinctive game. Every successful match brings you closer to the moment when the chest finally opens.
