Norsewind

About this board game

Norsewind is a tableau-building game for 1–4 players, played in about 60 minutes. Set in the year 793, it places you among the rulers of Wessex, Mercia, Northumbria, and East Anglia as Viking raids threaten Anglo-Saxon England.

Each turn, choose a card and add it to your growing kingdom. Careful placement is essential: arrange your tableau cleverly to earn rewards, expand your lands with new cities, and develop a realm capable of surviving the coming storm.

Growth brings opportunity, but it also brings danger. The more you expand, the more you attract Vikings to your kingdom, making the balance between ambition and defense central to your plans. Gather helpful followers and upgrade your castles as you prepare for attacks from an enemy that offers no friendship.

At the end of the game, each row in your tableau is scored only if your defense is stronger than the power of the Viking attack. This gives every addition to your kingdom a potential cost, asking you to judge when to expand and when to reinforce your defenses.

In Norsewind, victory belongs to the ruler who creates the strongest realm and stands ready against the Viking onslaught. Will your kingdom withstand fire and steel, or will its growing lands become a tempting target?
