About this board game
Ocean Labyrinth is an underwater maze game for 2–4 players, with play lasting around 30 minutes. Players shift the board’s tunnel tiles, navigate the changing paths, and race to complete their hidden objectives.
Each player holds a hidden card showing a symbol to reach. On a turn, take the spare tile at the side of the board and push it into a chosen row or column, shifting the tunnels and sending another tile out for the next player to use.
Once the maze has been changed, move your pawn along the path as it exists during your turn. If you reach the symbol shown on your card, reveal that card and look at the next one in your stack to discover your next destination.
- Shifting labyrinth: T-shaped, straight, and other tunnel tiles create a changing route across the board.
- Hidden objectives: Reach the symbols on your cards in sequence.
- Underwater surprises: Special rules are triggered when certain tiles are pushed out.
The special tiles add an extra twist to the familiar labyrinth gameplay. A pufferfish scares the current player, causing them to lose their movement for the current turn. A diving scooter lets the player move more quickly by providing an additional turn.
An oxygen tank means the player does not have enough oxygen and must return their pawn to a freely chosen start tile. These effects can disrupt movement just as the maze shifts beneath the players’ plans.
After revealing all of their cards, a player must return to their starting corner. In Ocean Labyrinth, the first player to accomplish this wins.
