About this board game
Origo is a family board game for 2–5 players, designed for ages 10 and up, with a listed playing time of 60 minutes.
Set in Europe around 400 CE, the game follows five tribes seeking new lands: the Huns, Langobardens, Goths, Anglo Saxons, and Vandals. Players strengthen their tribes by enlarging clans, founding or conquering countries, and building a powerful presence at sea.
Cards drive key activities such as expanding and attacking, while figures move across the boards through hiking and sailing. On each turn, the active player may carry out these four actions in any sequence, creating opportunities to combine movement, expansion, and conquest.
- Expand your tribe and enlarge its clans.
- Attack to conquer new countries.
- Hike across the land boards.
- Sail to develop your sea presence.
When a player occupies the final field in a country, that country is founded and points are awarded. Further points are earned in three major tribe evaluations during the game, rewarding the largest tribes, control of the seas, and control of countries.
Luck and tactics are mixed throughout Origo, giving players several ways to build their position and pursue the highest score. The winner is the player who finishes with the most points and advances farthest along the tribe leader path. With its blend of card-driven actions, figure movement, expansion, and scoring evaluations, Origo offers a focused game of tribal growth and territorial control.
