Overboss Duel

About this board game

Overboss Duel is a two-player board game played in about 30 minutes, where rival Boss Monsters compete to build the most powerful map on a shared overworld board.

Each turn, players draft terrain tiles and monster tokens, then place them anywhere on the board—even in their opponent’s land. Every choice helps shape your own map while creating opportunities to disrupt your rival’s plans. The goal is to finish with the greatest Power while making the other Boss Monster’s map less effective.

Build your territory from six distinct terrain types, each with its own point value and unique ability:

• Icy Peaks
• Towns
• Sunken Cities
• Spawning Grounds
• Roads
• Dungeon Entrances

The game combines drafting, set collection, puzzly tile placement, and direct interaction. Some terrain abilities let you move tiles around the overworld, steal tiles from an opponent, or give them unwanted tiles. You must balance valuable sets, clever placement, available board space, and the effects of every tile you draft.

Monster tokens add another layer to the map puzzle. They award points when grouped together or placed on matching terrain, encouraging you to consider both the terrain layout and the creatures occupying it. With its retro-inspired pixel art setting and familiar characters from Brotherwise Games’ Boss Monster, Overboss Duel brings the series’ world to a head-to-head format.

The box includes everything needed for a two-player game: over 65 terrain tiles, over 80 monster and hero tokens, a double-sided two-player board, a scorepad, and more.
