About this board game
Panzer Leader is a two-player, platoon-level hex-and-counter wargame depicting WWII tank and infantry combat on the Western European front, with games lasting about 90 minutes.
Four geomorphic map boards can be arranged in different ways for the included scenarios or for player-created battles. The 20 scenarios cover a range of Western Front engagements, with most focused on the Normandy campaign or the Battle of the Bulge. Two scenarios depict the amphibious assaults on Omaha and Gold beaches and include special rules for naval fire.
Based on PanzerBlitz, Panzer Leader refines the rules and adds mechanics for air attacks and engineers. Its revised spotting rules prevent units from firing from concealment without revealing themselves to enemy forces, while optional and experimental rules—including opportunity fire—offer additional ways to address concealed maneuvers.

The map boards are interchangeable with those from PanzerBlitz, allowing the two games to be combined for a larger battlefield. With an Avalon Hill complexity rating of 7, Panzer Leader is a detailed sister game to PanzerBlitz and The Arab Israeli Wars, originally released in 1974.
