About this board game
Paradox Island is an adventure deduction game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Everyone except one player explores an island they cannot see, while the player known as the Omnipotence Paradox secretly observes the island and all movement.
Each other player is a captive with a personal mission linked to movement, visiting specific spaces, or fulfilling particular conditions five times. Captives take turns clockwise, announcing their choices and receiving information from the OP. The first captive to complete their mission wins, while the OP aims to have captives perish five times.
On a turn, a captive may perform up to two actions. They can move one space in any of six directions, automatically activating the destination, or spend energy to move over a space or move safely and decide whether to activate it after learning what it contains. Captives can also restore energy.
- Reconstruct the unseen island by combining movement information and personal observations.
- Discover spaces with helpful or harmful effects, including bonus actions, extra movement, health loss, and energy loss.
- Track the movements announced by every player and build a better picture of the map.
- Survive interference from the OP’s Rock, Bush, and Wave pieces.
After a captive announces a movement, the OP names the destination point aloud, giving the group another clue while preserving the island’s hidden layout. The OP can also move the three island pieces on their turn, disrupting plans by causing harm or pushing captives toward unwanted spaces.
With blind movement, shared information, resource decisions, and competing objectives, Paradox Island challenges captives to piece together what they cannot see before the island—or its unseen controller—brings their expedition to an end.
